Sustainability and environmental protection

We share responsibility for our environment together with you. Please help us to minimise pollution as much as possible.

Water: In Germany this important resource seems to be available infinitely for us. But first problems with the water supply for large cities and falling groundwater levels inflicting serious damage to forests as a consequence show that for us in northern Germany, too, it is important to limit water consumption without sacrificing comfort.

Waste water: Our wastewater is disposed of via the wastewater treatment plant of the municipality of Winsen. Treatment plants are very sensitive to sanitary fluids, so we ask you to either not use these at all or only use sanitary fluids which work without any bactericidal additives. Please also help to protect the environment by only using biodegradable detergents and cleaning materials.

Electricity: We obtain our electricity exclusively from renewable energy sources and produce energy on site ourselves with our photovoltaic system.

Hot water and heating: We converted the complete heating system to a wood pellet heating system in order to achieve a neutral CO2 balance. It is an optimal type of energy, not least because of the proximity of the raw material source for environmental protection. Our hot water is mainly produced with a solar system.

Waste separation: As the dumping of waste is no longer permitted in Germany, we ask you to help us in avoiding and sorting waste. Our campsite will do everything possible to reduce environmental pollution and avoid cost increases in this regard for you as our visitors.

The Campingpark Südheide is a member of Ecocamping. You can find information about the work of Ecocamping at reception or on the internet: www.ecocamping.net.

The following measures have already been implemented:

  • Waste separation in the recycling yard

  • Washbasin and shower fittings, which turn off automatically

  • Heating using pellet heating

  • Operation of photovoltaic and solar systems

  • Light control via presence detector
